MY BACKGROUND
I'm an artist with many different interests...painting, sewing and writing to name a few.
My college years began at the University of KY where I majored in telecommunications and theater. Wanting to explore outside my home state, I transferred to North Texas State University and lived in Dallas, TX.
Having learned to sew at an early age, I landed a job with a couture design team who showed their line of high-end clothing in New York City. After traveling to New York with them for market week, I was hooked and moved to the Big Apple shortly thereafter.
I made my way in NYC by sewing for private clients whose accounts included Bergdorf’s, Saks, and Neiman Marcus. One of my most memorable sewing commissions was a red velvet tablecloth with gold tassels for use in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
My early interests in the performing arts resurfaced, and for the next decade I traveled the world while working in commercials and modeling. I lived in Milan during this time and traveled through Europe seeing the sights and visiting art museums. I remember gazing at classic portraits and wondering how the artists were able to achieve such depth and beauty in their detailed and realistic images.
Fast-forward 15 years...I left city life to be married and have children back in my home state of Kentucky. I enrolled in classes at Murray State University and found that my early love of color and texture had a renewed expression in drawing and painting classes. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Art and a Theater minor.
I started painting portraits upon graduation and
became Director of the Murray Art Guild which gave me a wonderful connection to the local and regional art scene.
My book, "The Big Sis Heart to Heart Guide to Modeling, An Inspirational Companion," was published in 2014 and is based upon my travels and experiences in the commercial modeling and acting world.
My hope is that my work brings joy and inspires others to explore their own creative interests.
