I’ve always loved making things—I learned to sew at an early age, and pursued a fashion degree in Dallas, Texas. This led me to New York City, and eventually, around the world when my interests shifted to modeling and acting. I was able to visit historic sights and some of the world’s greatest museums in cities such as New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles as well as countries like Italy, Greece and Japan.

I consider my time traveling invaluable to my work today. My time spent in front of a camera has given me a well-trained eye, and enables me to capture the most flattering images of my portrait subjects.

My background in fashion design lends me a flair for painting details in my subjects’ clothing. My love of color and light can be seen in the play of highlights and shadows in my paintings. And, the wide range of art I have seen gives my work an historical perspective.

After years of traveling away from home, a drawing class at Murray State University led me back to my original love of creating. I changed my major, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Art in 2002 and have been painting portraits ever since.

In 2005, I became Director of the Murray Art Guild for a short while until the birth of my baby girl. Since then, I have served as secretary and president, consecutively, of the board of directors. My association with the guild and its’ members has enriched my life a great deal.

My first showing of portrait commissions was at the Janice Mason Art Museum in my hometown of Cadiz, Kentucky in August of 2003. I have taught workshops and private lessons in portraiture to youth and adults.

I currently live and work in a restored dairy barn with my husband and daughter near Kentucky Lake in western Kentucky. I keep my artistic senses stimulated by working in various disciplines including painting, drawing, weaving, sewing and music. My greatest inspiration and work to date is my beautiful baby girl, Sage.
